Join us for a four-day developmental course in the teaching and conducting of choral music on the
beautiful campus of Carthage College in Kenosha, WI (just one hour north of Chicago and one hour
south of Milwaukee). Conductors meet for a 4-day CME professional developmental course focusing
on repertoire, singing technique, conducting, and choral pedagogy at Carthage College. The course
emphasizes conducting technique with an emphasis on the essential elements of Choral Teacher
Education, including:
- Choral Repertoire
- Score Study and Analysis (a score preparation that works!)
- Conducting (gesture as listening, teaching, performing)
- Rehearsal Pedagogy (focusing on non-verbal techniques and reflective practice)
- Doreen Rao Conducting Masterclass
The Institute will feature performance demonstrations of the following guest choirs:
